LASIK may be the suitable alternative to correct your vision

Do you own multiple pairs of reading glasses or varifocals? While they’re a fact of aging, you most likely feel you shouldn't need them yet. Our lifestyles shouldn't be compromised by the limitations of our vision.
If you’d really like to get rid of your glasses, but you’re not sure where to begin, our LASIK procedure is safe and effective for someone like you.

LASIK Consultation

Before arriving at your LASIK consultation, we would ask that you do not wear soft or hard contact lenses for two weeks.
This is because contact lenses reshape the surface of your eye and can interfere with the measurements we need to take in order to make sure your vision can be precisely corrected.
When you arrive at our LASIK clinic, our friendly technicians will guide you through a number of eye assessments on your cornea in order to determine the best possible outcome LASIK can give you.
Once you meet your LASIK specialist, they will be able to assess whether your eyes are suitable for this treatment or if any alternative laser treatments might be better for your eye health, for example, to reduce the risk of unusually dry eyes following the procedure.
Because we dilate your pupils to comprehensively assess your eyes, we advise that a friend or family member accompany you to help transport you home.
Our private LASIK consultation is completely FREE without any obligation to have treatment if you wish to consider your options.

LASIK Treatment

When you arrive at our clinic, our friendly nurse will take you to our laser suite, they will talk you through the procedure and answer any questions you may have about your LASIK procedure.
They will administer anaesthetic eye drops into your eyes to make sure the procedure itself is very easy and completely painless.
Our nurse will introduce you to your laser specialist and make you comfortable.
Our laser specialist makes a small incision to create a flap on the surface of your eye. The LASIK laser reshapes these exposed layers before the specialist will fold the flap back into position.
LASIK reshapes the eye’s cornea and increases the focus of light on your retina. This removes the need for contact lenses or glasses because LASIK changes the focusing power of your cornea and restores natural vision again.
Your eye will heal naturally over the following hours and days, and the majority of patients report their vision improves within 24 hours!

LASIK Aftercare

We want nothing more than for you to feel comfortable after your LASIK surgery, which is why our team is always here to answer any questions you may have during your recovery.
Before you leave on the day of your LASIK surgery, our friendly nurse will give you aftercare instructions and eye drops to take home.
The following day after your LASIK treatment your laser specialist will check your vision and monitor the progress of your vision.
After your first day aftercare appointment you will have to have minimal physical activity and rest for 1 week.
This is to make sure your eye can heal properly without any possibility of injury. Once your 1 week recovery period is over you laser specialist will check in with you again and carry out some further eye assessments.
Following this, you can resume all normal activities again with your natural, clear vision restored!

Whatever the view, Remember it with a clear vision

The surgeon was excellent, the staff very pleasant and knowledgeable. The atmosphere in the clinic was serene and unhurried. As I said to Bola my surgeon she really is a miracle worker, making "the blind to see". I had bilateral cataract surgery, and afterwards I could see without aid which I had not been able to do for 65 years.

I have had cataract removed from both of my eyes at My-iClinic, with last surgery done yesterday 06-02-2023. On both occasions, the medical side of the surgery was carried out with level of professionalism in a state of the art environment. The clinic cleaniless is outstanding.

Brilliant Treatment resulted in Brilliant Vision After noticing that my distance vision when driving was becoming uncomfortable and driving at night was becoming more and more difficult and new prescription glasses didn’t make much difference I decided to have cataract surgery. A friend recommended I have a consultation at the I-Clinic. Their professional examination was really Impressive and I had my totally painless operation to remove the cataracts (on both eyes) completed within the next four weeks.

I was recommended to Mr Bulger by a friend and was very pleased with the entire process for removing cataracts and improving my vision remarkably. It really is a miracle. All of the staff were kind and attentive and with Mr Bulger I felt that I was in very safe hands. Follow up activity was with Ms Odufuwa who was most helpful and attentive

I cannot praise My-Iclinic enough from my initial consultation to pre op and my surgery. The staff are reassuring and extremely professional in every aspect of the process. Mrs Bola Oduwufa is a wonderful surgeon and a magician in my eyes !!!. My double cataract extraction and lens replacement has improved my eyesight 1000%.I didn’t realise how flat and dull the colours and perspective of seeing life through my eyes had become due to the cataracts.

The care taken by all the clinic staff to ensure that I was comfortable, kept informed of what was being done to my eye and made to feel relaxed during the pre op tests was of an extremely high standard The surgeon was thorough, in the initial meeting, in explaining the problems and procedure that she would use to remove my cataracts.

My-iClinic was recommended by my optometrist. Both eyes were done quickly, painlessly and by a friendly team and one of two expert eye surgeons. Mr Bolger inspires confidence. I think I've had mine done early before the cataracts developed too much, which I recommend. The clarity is wonderful. Don't wait for your vision to get worse.

I am a absolutely terrified of anybody going near my eyes, it took a lot of courage to go ahead with treatment. During treatment the nurses and everybody concerned made great efforts to give me confidence. The staff were very friendly and thorough in their approach with attention to detail at every stage. I could have had the treatment in Cyprus at a much lower cost - but finally decided that My-iClinic from reports I had read and comments made to me was the best option. All the time remember you only have one set of eyes - and I have always felt it is your most important sense

Do you think LASIK could be the right treatment for you?

A better quality of life is just around the corner!

How vision correction saves our planet

Hard to swallow facts about wearing glasses and contact lenses.
  • Almost 800 million plastic contact lenses are used by 4 million people each year.
  • 100,000 tons of plastic are wasted from glasses.
SMILE, LASIK, PresbyondYour key to a sustainable, plastic-free life!
Saving more than just expenses, time and compromise, but saving the planet!
Clearer vision makes a clearer climate

How restoring your natural sight with vision correction treatment is helping the climate change crisis

Did you know blurry vision is on the rise?We call this ‘Myopia’ but you might already know Myopia as ‘Nearsightedness’.

By 2050 the World Health Organization predicts 4.9 million people will suffer from Myopia which not only affects people's natural sight and quality of life, but also contributes to the masses of plastic waste in our climate.

We understand how vision correction treatment is a healthier and natural way to not only restore your clear vision, but as an opportunity to see our climate become clean and bright for future generations to come!

Saving the planet one eye at a time!

When undergoing laser eye surgery, you may not realise it but you are already making a positive difference to the environment.

For every 10 years of contact lens wearing the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean is roughly the same as your own body weight.

Our gift to you...Here at My-iClinic we give all of our laser patients a real forest tree!

Over your tree’s long life, you can visit it, introduce it to your family and track its growth and value! Over the lifetime of the tree, it will more than offset the carbon you've used with your contacts/glasses. When the tree is harvested, its value will be yours and new trees are planted to replace it.

LASIK Frequently asked questions

Have a question? We are here to help.

What is LASIK laser eye surgery?

LASIK is a traditional laser eye surgery procedure which can be an excellent option for some patients, depending on your eyes. Our LASIK laser eye surgery reshapes the cornea of the eye to correct your vision and reduce the need for wearing glasses and/or contact lenses. When you book a FREE laser consultation with our laser specialist, they will be able to assess your suitability for LASIK and understand the vision you are needing for the ease of your hobbies and lifestyle.

Is everybody suitable for LASIK surgery?

LASIK is a fantastic procedure for correcting vision. Millions of people have had their vision improved by LASIK eye surgery already. LASIK is considered a traditional laser method but since then we have had break-through innovations with other laser techniques such as: SMILE and Presbyond. You may be suitable for LASIK and you may also be suitable for our other laser treatments which may be better for the quality of vision you require.

Who is most suitable for LASIK?

If your prescription is between +6 to -12 D or up to 6.0D of astigmatism you are most likely suitable to have LASIK surgery with us, provided you are not under that age of 21, pregnant, breastfeeding, using steroid drugs or have a squint/lazy eye.

What is the difference between LASIK and SMILE laser eye surgery?

SMILE treatment is a new iteration of laser vision correction which is less invasive with the same excellent results. The SMILE laser can refocus the cornea without cutting a flap. The cornea is stronger and not vulnerable to injury, and the corneal sensory nerves remain intact. Patients who undergo SMILE and LASIK laser correction achieve excellent vision.

When can I be suitable for LASIK laser eye surgery?

Those who have myopia (short-sightedness) will experience frequent changes in vision in their teenage years, so anyone considering LASIK eye surgery should be over 21. For those who have the need for reading glasses over the age of 40, Presbyond is a modification of LASIK and is the preferred option for achieving your desired results. There are also a number of circumstances and conditions that may cause your vision to fluctuate, including pregnancy, breastfeeding and steroid drug use. You should wait until these symptoms have subsided before enquiring about LASIK with our laser specialist.

Why may I not be suitable for LASIK laser eye surgery?

If you have a prescription that is stronger than -10 or +6 you would not be considered as a suitable candidate for our LASIK surgery. Unfortunately, If you have a squint or a lazy eye we may not use LASIK as a suitable surgery to correct your vision. In your private consultation, our laser specialist will be able to determine if you are eligible for LASIK or if you are better suited to another vision correction treatment.

How much does LASIK Laser eye surgery cost?

Our LASIK treatment is a £2,400 per eye with 24 months finance available. This includes your treatment and your aftercare appointment with our LASIK specialist.

How long does LASIK laser eye surgery take to heal?

Our LASIK surgery usually heals within 3 days of treatment, however, we advise you to rest for 1 week before attending your 1 week aftercare appointment with your laser specialist. We will then ask you to attend two more follow up appointments (6 months and 12 months) in the future to monitor how you are with your new, natural vision. We like our patients to feel that their aftercare is important because it is. This is why our specialists will check in with you up to 12 months after your treatment.

Can I swim, play sports and drive after my LASIK surgery?

After your LASIK surgery we advise a 1 week recovery period without swimming, playing sports or participating in any strenuous activities. After attending your 1 week follow up with your LASIK specialist, you will be able to swim and enjoy your busy activities again without your glasses!

How long does LASIK last?

Our LASIK laser eye surgery is a permanent vision correction procedure, lasting long term. A small percentage of our patients may need an enhancement laser procedure after LASIK because their eyes have developed a condition called presbyopia (aging of the eyes). Presbyopia can be easily corrected with us when you experience changes in your prescription but this does not usually occur until you are 40 onwards. Lasik is therefore a long term solution to correct your vision.

Is LASIK laser eye surgery safe?

Our LASIK laser eye surgery is very safe and effective in the majority of our patients but like all surgeries there can be some risks. For our LASIK procedure, in very rare cases, glares, halos and starburst can be experienced after treatment and there is a very small risk of infection.

Can there be complications from LASIK eye surgery?

Complications from LASIK surgery occur in less than 1% of our patients. These complications are mostly minimal which varies from the individuality of your eyes. Some patients may experience glares, halos and infections.

I have Keratoconus, am I suitable for LASIK laser eye surgery?

Unfortunately, people who have keratoconus (a thin cornea) are not suitable candidates for our LASIK surgery.

Is LASIK surgery painful?

Our LASIK surgery is not a painful treatment because we give all our patients anaesthetic eye drops to numb the eye before their surgery. There may be some slight discomfort such as a temporary itching, a burning sensation and/or dry eyes after your treatment but this is completely normal while the eye begins to heal. Additionally, we provide eye drops for your recovery period to subside any discomfort.
