Getting rid of your reading glasses with our Presbyond Laser Treatment

Always wanted to know what your vision could be like without the need for reading glasses?
If you suffer from presbyopia (also known as long sightedness, farsightedness, hypermetropia and hyperopia), our Presbyond laser surgery can fix your refractive error for an easier, clearer way of life.

Achieve clear vision at all distances

Presbyond Consultation

When you arrive for your Presbyond consultation with us, our friendly technicians will carry out some detailed assessments on your eyes.
These assessments will measure your eyes, your prescription and check the overall health for any other eye conditions you may have.
Our laser specialist will then be able to assess your suitability for Presbyond and they will talk you through the treatment and how Presbyond will best work for you and your lifestyle.

Presbyond surgery

Our Presbyond laser treatment uses a unique blended vision technique which extends the eyes ability to see from near through to intermediate and distant sight.
On the day of treatment, our friendly nurse team will greet you and talk you through the preparations for the treatment and will answer any questions you may have before meeting your specialist again.
They will carefully take care of administering anaesthetic eye drops into your eyes so that the laser treatment will be completely painless.
Your specialist will greet you in the treatment room and they will give clear, easy instruction as the laser reshapes your eye. The procedure itself takes up to 20 seconds per eye without any pain or discomfort. Once the treatment is finished, our nurse will talk you through any questions you may have and will show you the aftercare eye drops you will be required to use at home.

Presbyond aftercare

Presbyond only requires an initial 1 week recovery period with little activity.
In the initial days of your recovery period there may be a gritty sensation and you may experience some sensitivity to light.
Any symptoms experienced after your treatment will reside as your eyes fully heal and process your new refraction.
In your aftercare appointment with your laser specialist, they will check the progress of your vision and keep you informed about how long you should keep using your eye drops.

What our Presbyond patients say after treatment

Saving vision, time, money and the planet! Having Presbyond is a brilliant achievement for your vision, your time, your long-term savings and the sustainability of our planet. We want all of our patients to be well-informed about their recovery process after Presbyond surgery!

The surgeon was excellent, the staff very pleasant and knowledgeable. The atmosphere in the clinic was serene and unhurried. As I said to Bola my surgeon she really is a miracle worker, making "the blind to see". I had bilateral cataract surgery, and afterwards I could see without aid which I had not been able to do for 65 years.

Brilliant Treatment resulted in Brilliant Vision After noticing that my distance vision when driving was becoming uncomfortable and driving at night was becoming more and more difficult and new prescription glasses didn’t make much difference I decided to have cataract surgery. A friend recommended I have a consultation at the I-Clinic. Their professional examination was really Impressive and I had my totally painless operation to remove the cataracts (on both eyes) completed within the next four weeks.

I was recommended to Mr Bulger by a friend and was very pleased with the entire process for removing cataracts and improving my vision remarkably. It really is a miracle. All of the staff were kind and attentive and with Mr Bulger I felt that I was in very safe hands. Follow up activity was with Ms Odufuwa who was most helpful and attentive

I cannot praise My-Iclinic enough from my initial consultation to pre op and my surgery. The staff are reassuring and extremely professional in every aspect of the process. Mrs Bola Oduwufa is a wonderful surgeon and a magician in my eyes !!!. My double cataract extraction and lens replacement has improved my eyesight 1000%.I didn’t realise how flat and dull the colours and perspective of seeing life through my eyes had become due to the cataracts.

The care taken by all the clinic staff to ensure that I was comfortable, kept informed of what was being done to my eye and made to feel relaxed during the pre op tests was of an extremely high standard The surgeon was thorough, in the initial meeting, in explaining the problems and procedure that she would use to remove my cataracts.

My-iClinic was recommended by my optometrist. Both eyes were done quickly, painlessly and by a friendly team and one of two expert eye surgeons. Mr Bolger inspires confidence. I think I've had mine done early before the cataracts developed too much, which I recommend. The clarity is wonderful. Don't wait for your vision to get worse.

I am a absolutely terrified of anybody going near my eyes, it took a lot of courage to go ahead with treatment. During treatment the nurses and everybody concerned made great efforts to give me confidence. The staff were very friendly and thorough in their approach with attention to detail at every stage. I could have had the treatment in Cyprus at a much lower cost - but finally decided that My-iClinic from reports I had read and comments made to me was the best option. All the time remember you only have one set of eyes - and I have always felt it is your most important sense

A better quality of life is just around the corner!

How vision correction saves our planet

Hard to swallow facts about wearing glasses and contact lenses.
  • Almost 800 million plastic contact lenses are used by 4 million people each year.
  • 100,000 tons of plastic are wasted from glasses.
SMILE, LASIK, PresbyondYour key to a sustainable, plastic-free life!
Saving more than just expenses, time and compromise, but saving the planet!
Clearer vision makes a clearer climate

How restoring your natural sight with vision correction treatment is helping the climate change crisis

Did you know blurry vision is on the rise?We call this ‘Myopia’ but you might already know Myopia as ‘Nearsightedness’.

By 2050 the World Health Organization predicts 4.9 million people will suffer from Myopia which not only affects people's natural sight and quality of life, but also contributes to the masses of plastic waste in our climate.

We understand how vision correction treatment is a healthier and natural way to not only restore your clear vision, but as an opportunity to see our climate become clean and bright for future generations to come!

Saving the planet one eye at a time!

When undergoing laser eye surgery, you may not realise it but you are already making a positive difference to the environment.

For every 10 years of contact lens wearing the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean is roughly the same as your own body weight.

Our gift to you...Here at My-iClinic we give all of our laser patients a real forest tree!

Over your tree’s long life, you can visit it, introduce it to your family and track its growth and value! Over the lifetime of the tree, it will more than offset the carbon you've used with your contacts/glasses. When the tree is harvested, its value will be yours and new trees are planted to replace it.

Presbyond Frequently asked questions

Have a question? We are here to help.

What is Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is a refractive error in your eye which stops you from seeing objects up close (age related far-sightendness/ long sightedness). For example, you may find that reading, texting or seeing things clearly without bright light to be quite difficult.

What causes Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is an age-related condition which stiffens the muscles controlling the movement and focus of your eyes. Usually, glasses are needed to compensate for seeing up close unless you wish to be free from changing your glasses which is why we offer Presbyond laser treatment.

How common is Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is very common in people 40 and older and tends to get more noticeable once you reach 60 years old.

What is Presbyond Laser Treatment?

Our Presbyond laser treatment is designed for people suffering from Presbyopia (also known as farsightedness, long-sightedness, hypermetropia or hyperopia) which is an age-related condition that requires you to depend on reading glasses. Over time you may experience that your natural lens inside the eye deteriorates which makes near focusing increasingly difficult after the age of 40 and can start interfering with day to day tasks.

How does Presbyond work?

Our Presbyond treatment is a sophisticated wavefront laser which significantly reduces and/or eliminates the need for any reading glasses in the future. To achieve clarity in all areas of your sight ( near, intermediate and distance) our Presbyond will re-shape and correct your cornea to create ‘blended vision’. This blended vision allows you to eventually see at all distances without the need for reading glasses.

What does ‘blended vision’ mean?

Presbyond ‘blended vision’ is a term used to describe the way in which your eyes can see from all distances (near, intermediate and into the distance). Presbyond treatment has the highest chance of achieving clear vision at all distances because of its unique blend zone technology, designed to be the most successfully modern procedure for anyone suffering from presbyopia.

How do I know if I am suitable for Presbyond?

Presbyond is a treatment for a condition called presbyopia (age related farsightedness). When you get older you may experience changes in your vision and you may not realize that you have presbyopia. The best way to understand if you are experiencing presbyopia is to ask yourself a few questions:

  • Do I experience blurry vision without your reading glasses on?
  • Do I have to move things into the light to see them properly?
  • Can I only see up close when I put my reading glasses on?
If yes, our Presbyond surgery may be the perfect solution for you. Correct your vision to see better at all distances and reduce the need for wearing glasses by booking your free suitability check with our laser specialist.

How successful is Presbyond laser eye surgery?

Our Presbyond laser treatment procedure works in 97% of patients who immediately see the improvement in their vision. In very rare cases, and depending on the condition of your eyes, Presbyond may cause a ‘cross-blur’. Cross-blur occurs when your brain is trying to adjust to the new correction in each eye. If you experience cross-blur we can temporarily correct this with glasses until your eyes adjust or we can simply correct your refraction again to make sure you are free from glasses.

How long will Presbyond vision take to fully adapt to see at all distances without my glasses?

Adapting to Presbyond takes an average of 4 months but it may take from as little as a few weeks to as long as a year depending on your eyes. Our laser specialist will continuously monitor the progression of your vision and your independence from glasses. 97% of our patients immediately see the improvement and clarity after having their Presbyond treatment.

Is Presbyond laser surgery better than Monovision laser surgery?

Presbyond is an innovative laser technology which achieves a far greater success rate than any comparable treatment such as: monovision. Presbond is designed to extend your vision’s depth of focus and reduce the symptoms you may experience with conventional monovision treatment (halos, glares, starbursts). In comparison, Monovision is successful for 65% of patients whereas Presbyond is successful for 97% of patients. This is why Presbyond is considered the most advanced laser treatment for people over the age of 40.

I have cataracts, can I still have presbyond surgery to stop wearing my glasses?

Yes, you may be very suitable for Presbyond if you are suffering from cataracts. It is best to wait at least 3 to 6 months after having your cataract surgery before proceeding with Presbyond laser surgery. Having Presbyond surgery in no way affects cataract surgery so after we remove your cataracts and complete Presbyond treatment, your vision should return to normal, and you should remain independent of glasses. At a private consultation with our Presbyond specialist, we will carry out detailed eye assessments to assess whether your short-sightedness can be corrected by our Presbyond Laser Treatment.

I have already had laser eye surgery before, can I have Presbyond Laser Treatment?

Even if you have had SMILE, LASIK or LASEK, it is still very possible to have Presbyond. Although Presbyond is usually used to compensate for reading glasses, it can be combined with your previous treatment to correct short-sightedness (Myopia), long-sightedness (Hyperopia) and Astigmatism.

Are there any side effects after having Presbyond laser treatment?

Immediately after your Presbyond surgery you may experience the following symptoms:

  • Slight discomfort
  • Dry eye sensation
  • Night vision halos
  • Slight blurring
  • Visual fluctuations
These symptoms occur because the eyes are healing but any immediate symptoms usually reduce within 1-2 weeks. In your 1 day and 1 week aftercare appointments, your specialist will be able to assess the progression and clarity of your vision to make sure your symptoms reside.

Is Presbyond the same as multifocal implants surgery?

No, Presbyond is different from having multifocal implants. With our Presbyond laser treatment, your natural lens is not operated on and the procedure is carried out by one laser shaping the surface of your cornea. Due to this our Presbyond surgery is minimally invasive and will not require any insertion inside of your eye. However with Multifoclas, our specialists need to insert an implant into the eyes in order to achieve better vision. If you are suitable for Presbyond and Monovision, and depending on the health of your eyes and the lifestyle you have, we would advise Presbyond as the best treatment option for you. If you are undecided between Presbyond and other laser treatments we offer, please feel free to contact us on 0208 445 8877 to get a suitability check and/or private consultation with our laser specialist.

Can multifocal implants get rid of reading glasses?

Multifocal implants are used to replace the natural lens either as part of a cataract operation, or when a patient chooses to have their clear lens replaced to be free of glasses. They can provide a solution for some patients, but they can cause disturbances in vision, which can be troublesome. These disturbances include halos around lights, starbursts and glare. Sometimes the patient with a multifocal implant has difficulty driving at night due to these disturbances. These disturbances are almost non-existent with our Presbyond surgery.

How much does Presbyond laser eye surgery cost?

Our Presbyond laser treatment is an all inclusive fee of £2,400 per eye (inclusive of your suitability check and private consultation with your laser specialist).

Do you offer finance options for Presbyond Laser Eye Surgery?

Yes. We do offer finance for Presbyond laser treatment and because we know Presbyond is a great investment for achieving long-term sight, we offer a 0% interest free finance option for 24 months. Find out if you are eligible for our laser eye surgery finance.

Is Presbyond laser eye surgery safe and are there any risks?

All of our laser treatment options are safe but there is always a chance there can be side effects. With Presbyond surgery, there can be a chance that you experience ‘cross-blur’, which is when your brain takes longer to process the correction of your eyes in order to see clearly at all distances. Cross-blur is a temporary symptom and our specialists will prescribe a temporary pair of short-term glasses to help you through your adaptation period.
